Has time moved faster this year than ever before, or is it just me? I cannot believe it’s already almost 2022 and as I’m sitting down with my Content Machine clients to chat about what they’ve got planned for next year, there are TONS of ideas bouncing around my office about how their marketing strategy is going to support their biggest goals.
Planning ahead is a huge part of any business, and content marketing should be no different! There are so many benefits to thinking ahead when it comes to pushing out content that aligns with your business goals, so in this blog, I’m going to outline a few of my favorites.

Reason #1 to Plan Your Content in Advance
Planning out your content ahead of time takes the pressure off deciding how you want to show up day-to-day. Especially when there is something big happening in your business (aka the times that it’s most important to be visible), we have less time to fiddle with the phone or write lengthy emails to our lists. Those times when stress is higher than usual are NOT the times when you want to be researching, trying to decide on what to talk about, etc. All of your spare time should be spent recharging and supporting those who support you.
Reason #2 to Plan Your Content in Advance
You are much more able to align your content to your business goals. Like I mentioned earlier, at the end of each year I like to roughly map out my sales cycles and what I’m promoting when. This makes all the difference in deciding what content needs to be shared at what time so that it can serve it’s true purpose: to warm my audience up and establish authority in my field. Once the offer drops, no one is surprised because they’ve been hearing me talk about related topics for the past few weeks (or months). And if they’re interested, then I know my content is working and will support my offer.
Reason #3 to Plan Your Content in Advance

This is so that we can expand on a topic, have somewhere for people to go to learn more about it, and gather information to fuel shorter-lived forms of content marketing, like social media and emails. With this strategy, there is absolutely no shortage of content to pull from to stay top-of-mind and on-topic for what’s happening in the business. Not to mention, Google loves it and long-form pieces will continue to drive traffic to a website far longer than a social post, so why not spend the most time there, right?
