Blogs are a powerful tool for any business, and they can be used in many different ways. If you’re thinking about starting a blog on your website but aren’t sure if it’s the right place to allocate time and energy, I’ve put together my top five reasons why utilizing a blog is 100% worth it! In this post, you’ll learn how consistent blogging can:
1. Deliver pre-qualified leads straight to your website
2. Showcase your expertise and authority in your field
3. Extend the life of your content
4. Simplify your social media & email marketing process
5. Strengthen your brand
How Blogs Deliver Pre-Qualified Leads to Your Website
How are people finding your website? If your answer to this question is referrals or social media, you’re leaving traffic on the table!
With each blog post comes a brand new page on your website, where you can integrate keywords, which people are actively searching for online! Here’s a perfect analogy by Jayson DeMers in his article on the impact blogging can have on a website:
“In terms of search engine rankings, I like to think of blogging as fishing. The more hooks you have in the water, the more likely you are to catch a fish. In the same way, as you add more content to your site, more pages from your domain become indexed in search engines. This improves organic search visibility and increases website traffic.”
Now, I’m planning on doing an entire training on how to choose which topics and keywords to base your blog posts on (click here to stay in the loop on that), but my #1 go-to when I get asked about how to come up with quality ideas to write blogs about is answerthepublic.com. Just pop in your keyword or phrase and get the most popularly searched questions. Then, answer them!
How Blogs Showcase Your Expertise and Authority In Your Field
Blogging is a great way to educate potential customers on topics that they may not even know they needed to learn about. As you continue blogging, your expertise in your field will be revealed and search engines see that others find what you write useful, which:
- Makes visitors more likely to trust you and eventually work with you or purchase something and
- Proves that your content is valuable and worth sharing in search results on Google. The algorithm will take notice!
Blogs are a great place to expand on all that genius living up inside your head! So, by listening to your clients, communities, and prospects and figuring out how to answer their questions before they even have them, they’ll know exactly where to turn when they’re ready to get serious about solving their problems.
How Blog Posts Extend the Life of Your Content
When people think “content,” many think “social media content.” While your social media content is super important, your longer-form content could be much more impactful and for a much longer period of time.
According to The Refinery in their 2021 report, here are the average lifespans of posts on different platforms that you should be aware of:
- Twitter: 15 minutes
- TikTok & Snapchat: Start decaying immediately unless viral
- Facebook: 6 hours
- Instagram: 48 hours
- LinkedIn: 24 hours
- YouTube: 20 days or more
- Pinterest: 4 months
- Blog Post: Over a year

Repurposing Your Blog for Social Media & Email Marketing
Ahh, my zone! This practice is the basis of my Content Machine service and is the absolute best way to stretch your content while shrinking your time and effort.
In short, if you write a blog post, you can likely break up that long-form piece into 5-10 social media posts. Check the date on this blog, and then scroll back to the same week on my Instagram feed to see this in action! Or if you’re reading this right when it comes out, stay tuned!
My clients have a LOT to say about their zone-of-genius, and there is no need to reinvent the wheel when you go to post on social media each time! Creating bite-sized social media posts out of your blogs will help you stay top-of-mind, but the full blog will be the place they’ll be directed to in order to get the full meal and see what else they can order.
Additionally, we all know social media is finicky and could crash and burn at any moment, so building an email list is always a good idea. If you’re wondering how to achieve consistency there and keep your list engaged, a blog can do just that! Consider sending out a summary of what they can learn in the blog and linking it up – simple and effective!
Your Blog WILL Strengthen Your Brand
People want to get to know you and your company! In order to build that know, like, and trust factor, you need a platform for them to come and get acquainted. Your website as a whole should be aligned with your brand voice, tone, and general messaging, but your blog can be more of a playground for you to be yourself and give them a taste of what it’s like to work with you, learn from you, and interact with you.
So, those are my top 5!
There are SO many additional benefits to sharing long-form content directly on your website, but even just these should be enough for you to get excited about your blog and make your digital marketing life more streamlined.
I would absolutely love to know where you are in your blogging journey, how you like to use and repurpose your blogs, and help you however I can! That being said…
