Appealing to the senses is a super important part of marketing! Especially with online businesses, photos of just you or your office tend to get stale quickly, so how do you generate enough material to cover your social pages, website, and other projects? Free stock media has entered the chat!
This is my ultimate list of my favorite websites to download free content to supplement your currrent library, and seriously up the quality of your projects. Use these to find images, videos, and audio so that you too can find what you need and stand out from the crowd without breaking the bank!
Where to Find Free High-Quality Stock Images
Unsplash
My #1 go-to for free stock images! Unsplash really does have the best variety around and does a fabulous job at suggesting related content for what you’ve searched. Once you hit enter on the search, notice the buttons that pop up under what you’ve entered. These will help you get more specific and narrow down your results.
Pexels
Pexels is another really great one, but I caution you to use this one when you have a bit of extra time on your hands! I regularly get lost in their articles on color theory and picking through their trending searches and backgrounds by color. Consider using Pexels to bank up some images that match your brand colors and use them to spice up the backgrounds on your Instagram stories!
Pixabay
This one definitely has the most limited selection, but what I really love about Pixabay is that they allow you to search by category, size, orientation, and color. If you’re needing a vector graphic or something transparent like an icon, check here!
Where to Find Free Video Footage
In 2021, it is expected that 8 out of 10 people will be convinced to buy a product or service by watching a brand’s video. I’ve said it a dozen times and I’ll say it again – the social media algorithms prioritize video like crazy! But, creating great videos consistently is a hefty undertaking. If you don’t have either the time or money for good-quality videos, how can your business still benefit from them? Hello, free stock video footage!
Pixabay and Pexels
Pexels and Pixabay both have tons of free stock videos. Pexels has a great selection of 9:16 videos too, so if you’re using them for social media be sure to check those out!
Videvo
Another great place to find free stock footage is Videvo. They of course show their premium content first, so be sure to filter your search and leave only the ‘Free Clips’ checked under ‘Clip Types.’
Videezy
Videezy has fantastic drone and aerial shots for when you want to inspire wanderlust! They have tons of other free high-quality clips as well, but if you’re planning to use them on your website, make sure to copy and paste the licensing code into an HTML block on the page as well.
Where to Find Free Stock Music and Sound Clips
Options for free audio clips have always been slim, and the Youtube Audio Library was pretty much the go-to source for a long time. Thankfully, some of these stock libraries, Pixabay and Videvo, are now offering royalty-free audio downloads as well! Hallelujah!
Soundscrate
Head to Soundscrate to find super high-quality and fully mastered audio to use anywhere, no attribution required! Their library is huge and the clips here are original and produced by verified professionals.
Bensound
Bensound has a really great collection of audio that can be used for multimedia projects (Youtube Videos and Social Media Posts) as long as you credit them in the video description. You can pay if you’d like to use these for audiobooks or podcasts too!
And there you have it, my trusty sources for free stock media! Whether you’re creating content for social media, giving your website a facelift, or upping the production value of your podcast or video content, I’m positive you’ll find what you’re looking for! Happy media hunting!
